Update

Might I suggest y'all have a read of this, both those that are suitable outraged by the above story and those that are eager to call the rest of us "sissy" and rush to the defence of their "Daddies" in blue.
How easily you give up your fundamental rights so your Daddies can protect you.

And you call us sissy.

There are links to tasering in the latter part of this previous post.

She was out of control. She posed a danger not only to herself, but also the police who she refused to calm down for. This tazing was justified. The U of Florida comedian incident was clearly not since the man was speaking in an open forum and not intoxicated. Two disparate cases of police using force.

Police should use other means to 'calm down' people. She was obviously out of control and unresponsive. It's so stupid that police would come up with arguments that she was resisting and did not follow 'orders' (she is probably drunk). She could have died while in custody (handcuffed) due to this treatments and then the officer charged with murder.

its funny that people would say poor lady but in all reality if it was a black or hispanic person you all would say it was justified but it was a drunk white women so shes a victim. this women was out of control she kept tryin to get up wouldnt put her hands behind her back like the cop told her to and she tried to kick the windows out shes lucky he didnt shoot her with a real gun if i was him i would have done the same. people need to take responsability for there actions and stop hiding behind lawsuits and blaming other people because of what happened to them it makes me sick to see people trying to blame others for there actions grow up and take responsability for your actions...i agree 100% with the officer and think he stayed calm givin the degree of this womens actions...

"(she is probably drunk"... Ya think! Come on, use your heads people. Sure there were other methods he could have used... pepper spray, which takes a long time to recover from & can cause problems with respiration, baton strikes which can break bones, leave other permanent damage or potentially be fatal, or good ole physical force with his hands, which not only poses hazards to her, but him as well. It is clear in the video how immediate the affect of the taser has on her out of control behavior. Maybe if people would actually listen to the police or just not be so stupid as to become so intoxicated that they cannot control their own behavior, police would not have to use tasers or any force. The blame all centers back on her, not the police. Clearly all of you who make these comments against police performing not only reasonable, but legally justified behavior for which they have been trained to do to protect us, have never had to perform such actions and put your safety at risk while having to ensure your actions not only are legal, ethical, and effective in protecting the public and yourself. Put on a uniform and go to a few bar fights, maybe then you'll get it.

Could it be that the officer used the taser gun to subdue her because he was too out of shape to get down and restrain her? He's obviously bigger and stronger than her. Had he been in better shape I'm sure he could have been able to place the cuffs on her while his back up responded.

this woman was a drunken, out of control idiot. she should have done what the officer told her to do. she deserved it

What's wrong with you people?! That woman was frantic to get away from that sadistic cop, who refused to stop torturing her. Are all of you made of stone, or what?

I have watched the video a few times. First it needs to be said that she created this situation. I do believe the officer had way to much fun with it. He was in no danger, the people standing around him appeared to be in no danger. He tried kicking her when she was crawling away from him and waited to tase her not as a result of her coming at him but crawling away. Give a big ole boy a badge and watch him overuse his authority. If he is married, convince me he doesn't beat his wife. There was no idication he tried any other way to subdue her. Glad I was not there, had that been my friend or my sister, I would most definitely been tased too because I would have done whatever necessary to protect her from that sadistic bully with a badge. Shame on that coward!

"this woman was a drunken, out of control idiot. she should have done what the officer told her to do. she deserved it"

???? HUH? That woman was a CITIZEN and deserved the same amount of respect and protection that we all deserve. That "officer" (reminding me why they used to be called PIGS) was the abusive, out-of-control idiot - not the woman! Anyone who knows anything about conflict situations knows that objective #1 is to REDUCE THE CONFLICT. Aggression, yelling and inflicting pain do the opposite. DUH!!!! But I guess this is too much of a mind-boggling concept for "officers" who can so EASILY grab a taser-gun to cover their own incompetence!

Police are our "friends and protectors" - remember learning that in school? Personally, I'm afraid of anything that runs around in a uniform. SEVEN TIMES TAZING??? Applied to a drunken, handcuffed woman? What is this - gestapoland? That cop is SICK AND SHOULD BE FIRED.

Anyone defending this crazed drunk has either never had to deal with one or is one themselves. It sure is easy for people to hide behind their computer screens and judge the actions of the police. You sissies want to make cracks about the officer's physical stature and say that's to blame. He's a bully, he's a coward, he's fat....what if this crazy drunken freak ruined your night at the bar by picking a fight with you? Yeah, yeah, yeah, "I'd kick her ass." Then who's the bully for beating up (if you actually could) a woman. Then who's the coward? It's too easy for people to blame the police when they see only a small part of the situation. To really appreciate what the police go through, sign up for a ride along (if you have the guts to see what society is really like) and get just a taste what they go through on a daily basis only to be judged by a bunch of pansies that think life every where cookies and cream all the time. That taser saved that woman from being pepper sprayed which could have triggered resperatory distress or being "man handled" which could have resulted in severe/permanent injuries. She will have no lasting effects of the taser other than maybe detering her from drinking excessively again.

Only in America do police get paid vacations for violating civil laws and school teachers get (even more than the normal FOUR MONTHS) paid vacation for violations of the law, I love this country but it is sure weird sometimes.

Police are getting way too comfortable with this device.

If that police officer can't control that situation without using a fu#%$^ing tazer he is not fit at all to do his job.

He seemed to like it too. He needs to be fired. We need cooler heads in our law enforcement.

Yes she was drunk and was probably out of control. But to taser someone 7 times is craaazy! I am sickened watching this video. Shame on the cops. That officer should be FIRED for that! I can't blame her for trying to kick out the windows of the police car. I am sure i would have been afraid for my life by then and i would have done the same thing. My thought would have been "Dear God get this monster away from me!" Of course noone helped. Yeah thats our great police force out there. There is NO reason to taser someone 7 times. This is a prime example of authority going straight to someones head. and I'm sorry but cops like that are SCARY!!

The problem this video highlights is that it's our polices methods that get people to react like this. If I was being tazered I would try to run away too, it's a natural reaction. If you look at policing methods in Europe and the UK, they try to reason with people, treating them like human beings FIRST. Use (deadly) force only when necessary. Our cops show up screaming, pointing guns. Violence only engenders more violence. I'm not saying a cop shouldn't do whatever it takes to protect innocent life, including their/
