Stroll On! Santorum Do They Have Seasons on Your Planet

What a sad bastard he is, him and his namesake both, a pair of proper sad bastards right!

And not only is Santorum a sad bastard, he is one very sick puppy indeed.

LinkSantorum: We Don’t Need Food Stamps Because Obesity Rates Are So High
By Igor Volsky
Dec 7, 2011

Speaking in Le Mars, Iowa on Monday, Rick Santorum promised to significantly reduce federal funding for food stamps, arguing that the nation’s increasing obesity rates render the program unnecessary:

Santorum told the group he would cut the food stamp program, describing it as one of the fastest growing programs in Washington, D.C.

Forty-eight million people are on food stamps in a country with 300-million people, said Santorum.

If hunger is a problem in America, then why do we have an obesity problem among the people who we say have a hunger program?” Santorum asked.

The cost of the food stamp program — the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — has jumped because more Americans are out of work and wages are down, not because of obesity rates. Recent data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that nearly “70 percent households that relied on food stamps last year had no earned income,” although many households did benefit from Social Security benefits and other government programs. But a whopping 20 percent of households had no cash income at all last year.

Food prices have also gone up, adding additional costs. In fact, the food stamp program has been critical for reducing poverty and pumping money into local economies during the down economy, so cutting it now would not only take food out of peoples’ mouths (regardless of whether they are obese or not) and could slow down the recovery. "Well, Rick, let us explain it to you in terms even a 5-year-old can understand: Food insecurity often leads to obesity."

"Maybe when the poor start to practice cannibalism to avoid starvation, Santorum will admit a food problem exists."

The Santorums see other issues as a bigger problem than the hunger problem.

Colmes criticized Santorum’s handling of the death of the child, Gabriel Michael Santorum.

Santorum’s wife, Karen, who was at the event and listened to her husband talk about the experience, began to weep.

"It’s just so inappropriate," she said as tears streamed from her eyes.

Dad's Google problem.

"That just makes me sad. It's disappointing that people can be that mean," she said. "That's really the first thing that comes to mind, it's hurtful. But it's okay, we just try and focus." (Elizabeth Santorum)

"Yeah, it's disappointing that some people can be so mean. Like, how "people" try to take your rights away from you if you have the misfortune of possessing a womb. Or how "people" think you're going to burn in hell if you don't believe Jesus Christ died to lower your taxes. Or those "people" who compare your love to bestiality because they think it's icky. Or those "people" who are totally fine with income inequality, because, let's face it, not everyone deserves to lead the charmed life of the Santorums." (Kaili Joy Gray)

Good morning Maren.

Two short, sweet and very much to the point articles.

For a moment, I wondered why you had picked up on Ricky, but then I remembered he has had a bit of a showing in Iowa.

Which I haven't bothered reading about by the way, the Iowa caucuses having as much to do with reality as Genesis has to do with the creation.

Because coincidently, I had picked up on a tweet of newly arrived tweeter, Rupert Murdoch, can you believe?

Basically saying in a tweet of my own, read Murdoch's judgement and opinion of Ricky: (guardian article http://bit.ly/t3WMdK )

Murdoch himself has been back online, with tweets that included praise for one Republican presidential candidate who has been making a late challenge in Iowa after trailing much of last year.

"Can't resist this tweet, but all Iowans think about Rick Santorum. Only candidate with genuine big vision for country," said Murdoch.

Then saying, go and read this:

http://bit.ly/n1f1OJ (Ricky is a sick puppy)

Which if I do nothing else today, I must try and make a post of.

Of which I have to say; both your links will come in handy.

Pray forgive if I am a little tardy in responding to your other links. Though this time of day is normally the best time to deal with them, I don't want my focus to be flying off on a tangent.

But deal with them I shall.

Thank you.

Update five minutes later.

Having just gone to read Murdoch's tweets, shows it is me, due to the way it reads in the Guardian, that has taken the tweet in question out of context, Murdoch in actual fact, is taking the piss out of Iowans.

But there are other tweets of his that certainly bear some looking at.

Sae la vie!

I think I should go back to bed.

The tweet in question, Murdoch's:

@rupertmurdoch - Rupert Murdoch
Can't resist this tweet, but all Iowans think about Rick Santorum. Only candidate with genuine big vision for country.

Which to me sounds like he's taking the piss.

But another tweet of his:

@rupertmurdoch - Rupert Murdoch
Good to see santorum surging in Iowa. Regardless of policies, all debates showed principles, consistency and humility like no other.

Confused in Cairo.

Rupert Murdoch ‏@rupertmurdoch

Seems impossible to have civilised debate on twitter. Ignorant, vicious abuse lowers whole society, maybe shows real social decay.

I shall have to think about that one Dani. Quite possibly that was the case, I couldn't DM her because she wasn't following me.

Going back to the feathers for an hour, I was up before sparrow fart this morning.
