The first civil court case against Saudi Arabia's religious police was held on Monday after the police representative showed up for the second hearing, the plaintiff's lawyer said.

A legal representative of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice took part in the hearing after they refused to turn up in the first hearing on May 13, lawyer Abderrahman al-Lahem told AFP.
