Perverted Penguins Perturbed Polar Pioneers

I seem to recall the Fundies hi-jacking penguins for some reason or other, just let me see what I can find that will put this post in the correct context.

Well I have found something, boy oh boy, have I. So before you read on, might I ask you to read the post below, before delving in here.

'Depraved' sex acts by penguins shocked polar explorer

By Matt McGrath
10 June 2012

Accounts of unusual sexual activities among penguins, observed a century ago by a member of Captain Scott's polar team, are finally being made public.

Details, including "sexual coercion", recorded by Dr George Murray Levick were considered so shocking that they were removed from official accounts.

However, scientists now understand the biological reasons behind the acts that Dr Levick considered "depraved".

The Natural History Museum has published his unedited papers.

Dr Levick, an avid biologist, was the medical officer on Captain Scott's ill-fated Terra Nova expedition to the South Pole in 1910. He was a pioneer in the study of penguins and was the first person to stay for an entire breeding season with a colony on Cape Adare.

He recorded many details of the lives of adelie penguins, but some of their activities were just too much for the Edwardian sensibilities of the good doctor.

He was shocked by what he described as the "depraved" sexual acts of "hooligan" males who were mating with dead females. So distressed was he that he recorded the "perverted" activities in Greek in his notebook.
Graphic account

On his return to Britain, Dr Levick attempted to publish a paper entitled "the natural history of the adelie penguin", but according to Douglas Russell, curator of eggs and nests at the Natural History Museum, it was too much for the times.

"He submitted this extraordinary and graphic account of sexual behaviour of the adelie penguins, which the academic world of the post-Edwardian era found a little too difficult to publish," Mr Russell said.

The sexual behaviour section was not included in the official paper, but the then keeper of zoology at the museum, Sidney Harmer, decided that 100 copies of the graphic account should be circulated to a select group of scientists.

Mr Russell said they simply did not have the scientific knowledge at that time to explain Dr Levick's accounts of what he termed necrophilia.

"What is happening there is not in any way analogous to necrophilia in the human context," Mr Russell said. "It is the males seeing the positioning that is causing them to have a sexual reaction.

"They are not distinguishing between live females who are awaiting congress in the colony, and dead penguins from the previous year which just happen to be in the same position."
Sexual coercion

Only two of the original 100 copies of Dr Levick's account survive. Mr Russell and colleagues have now published a re-interpretation of Dr Levick's findings in the journal Polar Record.

Mr Russell described how he had discovered one of the copies by accident.

"I just happened to be going through the file on George Murray Levick when I shifted some papers and found underneath them this extraordinary paper which was headed 'the sexual habits of the adelie penguin, not for publication' in large black type.

"It's just full of accounts of sexual coercion, sexual and physical abuse of chicks, non-procreative sex, and finishes with an account of what he considers homosexual behaviour, and it was fascinating."

The report and Dr Levick's handwritten notes are now on display at the Natural History Museum for the first time. Mr Russell believes they show a man who struggled to understand penguins as they really are.

"He's just completely shocked. He, to a certain extent, falls into the same trap as an awful lot of people in seeing penguins as bipedal birds and seeing them as little people. They're not. They are birds and should be interpreted as such." BBC

The old Queen might have been dead for a decade, but her uptight sexual attitudes were alive and well that's for sure. I should imagine that female sexual emancipation was about as rare a thing as a female orgasm; a quick thrust in the dark in the missionary position, was I suppose, the standard operating procedure of the day.

Below there is the trailer for the film, Ninety Degrees South, and the full movie, with sound commentary, below that. The files version that I downloaded some while ago, was in fact the unadulterated silent version of Herbert Pontings' film. If you call 'with captions' unadulterated that is.

I did however find the silent version to be more in keeping with the presentation. But that is not to say that the footage is still anything but the original and shouldn't detract you from watching this remarkable footage.

For me personally, there is just one thing that gives Scott's expedition a slight taint, and to a somewhat lesser extent Shackeltons; classicism, it pervades throughout all these 'Boys Own' adventures of the day. (Interesting Shackleton link)

But that said, and particularly after watching Pontings' film, nothing but nothing can take away from a feat of tenacity and human endurance, Scott's trek to the Pole and nearly back, that is probably unparalleled in the history of human endeavour. And made all the more so, by the quality of the kit available at the time, to these intrepid heroes.

Rest Stop Confidential: How I Ended up Having Sex With Men in Bathrooms

Across America, countless men are meeting up for sex in highway bathrooms. I'm one of them. Here's why.
by Conner Habib
March 30, 2012

I was 15 the first time I found out that men have sex in public. On the way to Maine with my mom and stepfather, we pulled off the highway and into a rest area. At the urinal, there was a man next to me. He was tall and homely, and holding himself. He stared at me. I was electrified, but held to that spot; he shook himself at me and I couldn’t move. We would have stayed there forever, but another man came in and saw what was happening and scowled. Time started again and I ran out of the bathroom.

If you’ve ever pulled over to a rest area, you’ve been near men having sex. I’m one of those men, I’ve done it a hundred times; we go into the woods or a truck with tinted windows, in a stall under cold light. It never stops, not for season or time. In the winter, men trudge through snow to be with each other, in the summer, men leave the woods with ticks clinging to their legs. Have you ever stopped at a rest area and found it completely empty? There’s always one man there, in his car, waiting to meet someone new.

This has been going on for a long, long time. The new ways that men meet — endlessly staring into phones, searching on hookup apps like Grindr or sites like Manhunt — haven’t changed the fact that we’re still having sex at rest areas, because they offer something different. For the man who is unsure of his sexuality, or unsure of how to tell others about it, for the man who has a family but feels new desires (or old, hidden ones) unfolding inside of him, the website and the phone apps are just too certain of themselves. They’re for gay men who want to have gay sex. Sex at the rest area, instead, abolishes identity; there’s a sort of freedom there to not be anything – instead, men just meet other men there; men who want the same sort of freedom.

Is it any wonder why people who feel the weight of their identities have been caught having sex at rest areas? Sen. Larry Craig and pop star George Michael were both discovered having sex at them. There is an appeal not just to having sex, but to having anonymous sex — not because you want to hide your identity from the other person; surely the other men recognized George Michael — but to feeling your own identity left behind. And this freedom is open to everyone, even those comfortable with their sexuality.

When I was 21, on the day I got my first car, I drove to a little parking lot off the highway near where I lived: the gravity of memory – of that day when I was 15 — drew me there. Later, on the long drives between college in Massachusetts and home in Pennsylvania, I’d pull over whenever I found a rest stop. When I got there, I would wait. I wasn’t nervous, I wasn’t thinking — it seemed like where I should be.

Sometimes men go to rest areas because there’s nowhere else to go. My college town and my hometown were surrounded by thick lines of trees and post-industrial abandoned factories. There was no way to meet anyone, or if there was, it felt forced, somehow. Maybe I could go on dates with a few guys who were out like me, but I didn’t really want to go on dates, so it would’ve been dishonest. The straight students were going to parties and hooking up, making out on the green, having sex in dorms. The gay guys had to do what they could, wherever they could find it. Making out drunkenly with straight also-drunk frat boys, sex in the library with townies, trips to the nearest big city: either do those things or sit with your sexual feelings, like many of us had our entire lives. All that energy and nowhere to put it, no one to share it with.

Someone else would park next to me and look over. There were lots of old men, and younger ones too. There was no signal, just the way we looked at one another. We could tell. I would go into the little bathroom building, like the one in Maine. At the urinals, when the bathroom was mostly empty, we could stand side by side and reach over to each other. Or if not at the urinals, someone would be sitting in the stall next to me, tapping his foot, and I’d get on the cold dirty floor and slide my body halfway underneath the divider or sometimes there’d be a hole in the wall. Go to page two.

Upstairs Having a Vibrate Your Dinner's in The Oven

An interesting little read.

The Strange, Fascinating History of the Vibrator

The sex toy has its roots in the prude Victorian era -- but its history tells us a lot about the current attack upon women’s sexuality.
by Erik Loomis
March 9, 2012

Victorian-era doctors disliked dealing with female patients. This highly masculinized profession saw women as overly emotional and barely capable of rational discussion of their bodies. For a profession actively attempting to separate itself from the quacks selling cure-all tonics out of the back of wagons, treating women’s conditions provided little professional credibility or prestige.

One of women’s most common medical conditions was broadly called “hysteria.” By this, doctors meant any number of symptoms that described "irrational" female complaints. Perhaps the most well-known subsection of this aliment was neurasthenia, a nervous condition afflicting Gilded Age women and some men. Neurasthenia symptoms ranged from headaches and fear of insanity to insomnia and “morbid fears.” While mostly afflicting women, men also received diagnoses of neurasthenia; common causes for men were thought to be overwork and masturbation.

Male doctors found their hysterical and neurasthenic patients especially frustrating. Many doctors suggested that women would feel better if they engaged in sexual intercourse until its natural conclusion with a male orgasm. But given the ineffectiveness of vaginal penetration in satisfying many women, doctors resorted to other solutions. Doctors manually massaged the women’s clitoris until she achieved relief, i.e. experienced an orgasm, although it was not recognized as such. Annoyed doctors complained that it took women forever to achieve this relief; moreover, they thought this condition beneath their respectable professional demeanor to treat. On the other hand, the repeat business of these women was good for their pocketbooks.

Beginning in 1869, inventors developed steam-powered massage machines for medical offices. By 1900, doctors had a wide variety of devices to choose from, helping relieve the tedium of digitally massaging female patients. Even better from medical professionals’ perspective was the invention of a hand-held vibrator in 1905, allowing women to treat their own hysteria without visiting a physician. Soon, companies began advertising for the home vibrators, using slogans such as “all the pleasures of youth…will throb within you.” The home vibrators made economic sense for women as even the higher-end models cost no more than five or so visits to the doctor. Moral police officers worried that the home device would “accomplish little more than the titillation of the tissues.” Nonetheless, they proved quite popular with middle-class women whose homes had the electricity needed to operate the vibrators.

Despite the very real physical relief offered by vibrators, many doctors preferred to believe the vibrator was an asexual device. The medical profession thought sexuality only manifested itself in the penetration of a woman’s vagina by a penis. In late Victorian America, men saw middle-class women as adverse to sex which both facilitated men’s visits to the plethora of brothels in the cities and reinforced the idea of women provided a civilizing effect on men corrupted by the rough-and-tumble streets. When seemingly “pure” women did want sex, it was for reasons of maternal needs, not pleasure. That vaginal penetration did not please these women simply meant they lacked a sexual nature. At least one scholar does argue that doctors of the time did in fact recognize the reality of a clitoral orgasm, so we do not have a consensus on the matter.

The attempt to desexualize the vibrator played into larger fears men expressed about female sexuality. Masturbation was on the minds of many Americans during the early 20th century. Men such as Theodore Roosevelt worried that “self-pollution” sapped the male of strength, virility and morality and that the practice threatened the future of American manhood. But the specter of female masturbation was far more terrifying. I have read debates between doctors over whether women should be allowed to ride bicycles or whether the pleasure they might induce from the seat made it an unacceptable moral hazard.

Despite their popularity, vibrators disappeared from the market in the 1920s. The devices were devised for middle-class women, but in a nation as racially and ethnically diverse as the United States in the early 20th century, there were many competing sexual norms. Many working-class women, less affected by middle-class sexual norms, knew what the vibrator could do. The large-scale prostitution industry, although under attack after the crackdown on semi-legal and regulated red-light districts in the 1910s, adapted to new technologies and began creating pornographic films. These films began deploying the vibrator, destroying the fiction that the device was divorced from human sexuality. It seems that as soon as the connection between sexual pleasure and vibrators became firmly established in American culture, their acceptability as medical treatment vanished and the product disappeared from mainstream society. It was not until the early 1970s that the vibrator again became a common product.

On one level, this story may amuse us. It’s certainly difficult to disparage the development of a device that brought women very real physical relief and pleasure. Yet this is also a story of male hostility to women’s bodies and sexuality, the assumption that women’s medical complaints were beneath men to take seriously, and the denial and suppression of female sexuality in favor of male pleasure cloaked in rhetoric of science and medicine.

Recent Republican attacks on women’s bodies and their demonizing of female sexuality reminds me of the rampant sexual hypocrisy of late nineteenth and early twentieth century America.

The anti-obscenity crusader Anthony Comstock and his campaigns to prosecute birth control providers are reminiscent of Rick Santorum’s attitudes toward women. Rush Limbaugh’s sexualized personal attacks on Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke for arguing in favor of requiring private insurance plans to cover contraception hark back to a period when a woman discussing sexuality in public faced the loss of her respectability. Virginia’s attempt to pass an anti-abortion law that included a mandatory transvaginal ultrasound, effectively a state-sponsored sexual assault of any woman who wants to terminate a pregnancy, suggests the days when women lacked control over their own reproductive systems, with men deciding whether mothers were fit and sterilizing those deemed unworthy.

Exploring century-old sexual debates provides essential context for the current attack upon women’s sexuality. Limbaugh, Santorum and other prominent Republicans long for an idealized past where female sexuality remained in the home, under a patriarchal system that punished women for their sexual sins while rewarding men for sowing their wild oats. Wealthy white men have a long history of trivializing women’s medical and sexual needs while shaming those who express sexuality in public.

As Republicans continue their attacks on women’s control over their own bodies, the nation’s sexual history is essential knowledge. So long as Republicans advocate for a past of sexual repression, we need to know what actually happened in order to fight for a more progressive and equal present and future. AlterNet

Magical Story of Parents and Transgendered Twin

Not too magical for the twin in the first place, but how different this story could have read, had the parents not displayed such understanding.

Identical twin boys, one transgendered, become brother and sister

The twin boys were identical in every way but one. Wyatt was a girl to the core, and now lives as one, with the help of a brave, loving family and a path-breaking doctor’s care.

By Bella English
December 11, 2011|

Jonas and Wyatt Maines were born identical twins, but from the start each had a distinct personality.

Jonas was all boy. He loved Spiderman, action figures, pirates, and swords.

Wyatt favored pink tutus and beads. At 4, he insisted on a Barbie birthday cake and had a thing for mermaids. On Halloween, Jonas was Buzz Lightyear. Wyatt wanted to be a princess; his mother compromised on a prince costume.

Once, when Wyatt appeared in a sequin shirt and his mother’s heels, his father said: “You don’t want to wear that.’’

“Yes, I do,’’ Wyatt replied.

“Dad, you might as well face it,’’ Wayne recalls Jonas saying. “You have a son and a daughter.’’

That early declaration marked, as much as any one moment could, the beginning of a journey that few have taken, one the Maineses themselves couldn’t have imagined until it was theirs. The process of remaking a family of identical twin boys into a family with one boy and one girl has been heartbreaking and harrowing and, in the end, inspiring - a lesson in the courage of a child, a child who led them, and in the transformational power of love.

Wayne and Kelly Maines have struggled to know whether they are doing the right things for their children, especially for Wyatt, who now goes by the name Nicole. Was he merely expressing a softer side of his personality, or was he really what he kept saying: a girl in a boy’s body? Was he exhibiting early signs that he might be gay?Was it even possible, at such a young age, to determine what exactly was going on?

Until recently, there was little help for children in such situations. But now a groundbreaking clinic at Children’s Hospital in Boston - one of the few of its kind in the world - helps families deal with the issues, both emotional and medical, that arise from having a transgender child - one who doesn’t identify with the gender he or she was born into.

The Children’s Hospital Gender Management Services Clinic can, using hormone therapies, halt puberty in transgender children, blocking the development of secondary sexual characteristics - a beard, say, or breasts - that can make the eventual transition to the other gender more difficult, painful, and costly.

Founded in 2007 by endocrinologist Norman Spack and urologist David Diamond, the clinic - known as GeMS and modeled on a Dutch program - is the first pediatric academic program in the Western Hemisphere that evaluates and treats pubescent transgenders. A handful of other pediatric centers in the United States are developing similar programs, some started by former staffers at GeMS.

It was in that clinic, under Spack’s care, that Nicole and her family finally began to have hope for her future. boston.com

Sarah ''Shagger'' Palin: A Book Review

Something a little lighter for today.

How Much Do You Really Want to Know About Sarah Palin? Why Joe McGinniss' New Book, "The Rogue" May Be TMI

It's a book that puzzles as much as it enlightens. There's a fine line between "wow!" and "really?"—and McGinniss is working both sides of that divide.
By David Corn
September 16, 2011

It's hard to know how to read Joe McGinniss' new book, The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin. The blistering work is not a traditional biography. One-third or more is devoted to a Palin subplot: Joe McGinniss—that is, the tale of the author moving into the house next door to Chez Palin in Wasilla, Alaska, and the blog-and-tweet-storm that bold (and PR-savvy) move triggered. There is a reason for McGinniss injecting himself into the story, since the episode presumably shows Todd and Sarah at their autocratic and paranoid worst. But in Rogueland, getting to the worst is a true challenge, for there is so much—too much—to choose from.

By now, maybe you've heard about the most titillating portions. For instance, there's Sarah Palin hooking up with basketball star Glen Rice when Rice was a college star playing in a tournament in Alaska. Rice confirmed to McGinniss what he called a "respectful" encounter, noting that afterward "we talked a lot on the phone" and he had a "big crush" on Palin. But for McGinniss, there's more to this episode. In his book, this bizarre-in-retrospect intersection is proof of Palin's "fetish for black guys." That quote comes from an unnamed "friend." But—wait a moment—another unnamed friend says that following the Rice date, Palin freaked out: "Hysterical, crying, totally flipped out. The thing that people remember is her freak-out, how completely crazy she got: I fucked a black man! She was just horrified. She couldn't believe that she'd done that."

Fetish or freak out? The reader is rightfully confused. But the point is, there's so much juicy stuff in this book attributed to blind sources, and much of it is hard to sort out. Titanic fights between Sarah and Todd. Drug use. Sex. Affairs. Awful parenting. Supersaturated self-absorption. And weirdness. All the usual touchstones of a celeb-bio. The Palins' home life is a 24/7 nightmare of spousal fights and parental disregard. A "former houseguest" tells of being tossed out of the Palin home because Sarah suspected that she and her husband were having sex in the guest bedroom using—OMG!—baby oil. There's too much TMI in this book.

As a journalist who does rely on unnamed sources, I'm not knocking the general practice. But when the context of the blind attributions is a flood of vituperation, the use of unidentified sourcing becomes more troublesome. After all, McGinniss doesn't seem to miss any opportunity to slide the dagger into his subject. Here's a small example. When Palin was finishing her term as mayor of Wasilla, she fired a close associate. The fellow, John Cramer, who had done much to assist Palin during her time as mayor, told McGinniss his dismissal came as a complete shock. He had no explanation for it. The move speaks for itself. If Cramer's account is accurate, it depicts Palin as ruthless and selfish. Point made. But that's not enough for McGinniss. He can't resist the urge to tap dance on the grave: "It was as if Sarah didn't feel her tenure would be complete without one last gratuitous exercise of her power, without hurting just one more person who had helped her."

Perhaps. But the reader, if he or she believes Cramer, probably already reached the conclusion that what Palin had done was vile. This little jab suggests that McGinniss is being propelled by his bias. And that does a disservice to the journalism within the book.

To be fair, The Rogue is full of named witnesses testifying against St. Sarah. Former state trooper Gary Wheeler, head of Palin's security detail when she became governor, notes that she was a lazy chief executive. "For six years I was with [Frank] Murkowski and [Tony] Knowles," Wheeler told McGinniss, referring to her predecessors as governor. "For them, the job wasn't forty hours a week, it was eighty…For her, it was a part-time job." He asserts that Palin spent much of her days shopping, coming to work at 10 a.m., and leaving by 3 p.m. He says she bought about 100 pairs of sunglasses her first year as governor. (Make of that what you will.)

McGinniss also does a fine job dissecting Palin's associations with extreme Christian fundamentalism—territory other authors have previously excavated. Palin ran for mayor of Wasilla with one public issue: more bike paths. But McGinniss shows how her real agenda was to transform her town into an enclave of evangelism. When she campaigned for governor, McGinnis writes, "the hardest job her staff had was to keep her quiet about her religious beliefs." He reports that after being elected governor she fired a group of minority state employees who had worked on her campaign. An aide (named) says, "Sarah just isn't comfortable in the presence of dark-skinned people." But what about Glen Rice?

Virtually anything negative one can say about a person who is not a murderer or genocidal war criminal is said about Palin in this book. Of course, that doesn't make it untrue. Yet as I trekked along on McGinniss' unrelenting death march to the bowels of Palin's supposedly dark soul, at times I almost felt sorry for her. How many backstabbing "friends" can one person have? (One "friend" told McGinniss of a snowmobile trip that included both Todd and Sarah and allegedly involved a cocaine binge.) And how much wrath does any biographic subject deserve? At times, I wanted to reach for the hand sanitizer.

McGinniss is a journalist with a long, storied, and controversial career. Dialing back on the Palin-slamming might have yielded a better book—especially considering his run-in (or feud) with the Palin clan. The Rogue is must-cringe reading. It's a book that puzzles as much as it enlightens. There's a fine line between "wow!" and "really?"—and McGinniss is working both sides of that divide. Alternet

Why I Like Shagging by Greta Christina

Perhaps not something I would have normally chosen to run with, but we have the nonsensical ''abstinence'' theme running at the moment, courtesy of tricky Ricky Perry.

Puritan Pundits Should Chill Out -- Here Are 5 Reasons I'm Happy I've Had Lots of Casual Sex

Things don't have to be permanent to be valuable. A fleeting moment can have as much value as a stone monument.
By Greta Christina
August 28, 2011

The phenomenon of women who have sex for its own sake seems to baffle many people. It's widely believed that women have sex for love, commitment, poor self-control, to manipulate men, to please men, to make babies, to sooth their low self-esteem, and just about any reason at all other than their own pleasure. (While men, of course, are rutting horndogs who just want to stick it in the nearest wet hole available.) Sex, according to this trope, is by its nature a commodity that women possess and men are trying to obtain... and the phenomenon of women who are "giving it away," who are defying these assumptions and treating sex as a pleasurable interaction between equals, is making the media piss all over themselves.

Mark Regnerus, Slate: "If women were more fully in charge of how their relationships transpired, we'd be seeing, on average, more impressive wooing efforts, longer relationships, fewer premarital sexual partners, shorter cohabitations, and more marrying going on."

Rachel Simmons, relationship advice columnist for Teen Vogue: "These letters worry me. They signify a growing trend in girls' sexual lives where they are giving themselves to guys on guys' terms. They hook up first and ask later. "

Bill O'Reilly: "Many women who get pregnant are blasted out of their minds when they have sex."

Susan Walsh, Hooking Up Smart: "They cannot see that as she [self-proclaimed proud-and-happy slut Jaclyn Friedman] proclaims her detachment from sex, she gets emotionally wounded every single time. They take heart from her proclamation that sluthood is a healing thing. Ms. Friedman is a hot mess. Craiglist Casual Encounters was not a miracle, it was a disaster that broke her heart again. I hope she does find Love, the whole enchilada."

Laura Sessions Stepp, author of Unhooked: How Young Women Pursue Sex, Delay Love and Lose at Both... oh, just look at the title.

Then there's the piece that got me staying up until four in the morning writing about this in the first place: Christian author Don Miller, who recently asked his female readers (and his male ones, in a separate post) if they've ever had casual sex, and if so, why. Miller doesn't ask this in a neutral way, a way that expresses a genuine desire for an honest answer. He asks in a way that makes it obvious what he thinks the answer will be -- whatever the reason is, it must be bad, bad, bad. In fact, he's asking in a way that totally slants the answers he's likely to get. He's asking "why some girls give up sex easily" (as if sex for women is always a surrender) and "do you use sex for some kind of social power or to make yourself feel good?"

It's like a push-poll -- a political poll designed to elicit a particular response, so you can shape people's opinions and make your position seem more popular than it really is.

And this push-poll tendency is shared by many of those who ask, "Why on earth would women want casual hookups?" They're not asking, "Why do some women have casual sex?" They're asking, "Why on earth would some women have casual sex, when it's so clearly a bad idea that will do them and other women harm and is obviously not in their best interest?" And they're doing this despite research showing that casual sex isn't, in fact psychologically harmful for young adults. They're basing their questions on the common assumption that women's natural state is to keep their legs closed unless they've got their hands on marriage or commitment... and that women who don't are some sort of baffling phenomenon that needs to be explained.

So I thought I'd try to explain it.

I've had a lot of experience with casual sex. It's been a while, and I'm not particularly interested in it anymore. But for many years, pretty much all the sex I had fell somewhere on the "casual" spectrum. Personal ad hookups; occasional sex with friends; sex clubs and sex parties; ongoing sexual friendships... that's what my sex life looked like for a long time.

And needless to say -- but I'm going to say it anyway -- a lot of this casual sex was a good idea. A wonderful idea, in fact. A lot of it was done for excellent, healthy reasons. And the effect it's had on my sex life and my love life has been overwhelmingly positive.

You want to know why I had it? Here's why.

1: Fun. This is first and foremost. In fact, all the other answers I'm about to give ultimately boil down to this one: Sex is fun. Sex feels good. Sex is its own justification. And that was every bit as true when I was single as when I've been coupled. I had sex for the same reason billions of other people have sex: Pleasure. Period.

We evolved to enjoy sex. We are descended from thousands of generations of ancestors who really, really liked to fuck. Asking why people have sex casually is like asking why people eat food casually. Eating feels good. Food is fun. It's often more fun when it's meaningful and done with people we love. But that's not always an option, and it can still be pretty darned fun when it's grabbed on the fly with acquaintances and strangers. We evolved to want to eat food. And we evolved to want to have sex. Like, duh.

2: Experimentation. When I was having casual sex with a lot of different people, I was also having lots of different kinds of sex. There are lots of reasons for that: some obvious, some not so obvious. The most obvious one is that my partners liked different things, so I tried the things they liked, to see if I might like them too. Plus, at the time, I felt more comfortable asking for and trying some of my freakier desires with fuckbuddies and casual hookups than I had with long-term romantic partners. I do wish that hadn't been true -- I wish I'd been less shy about experimenting with my LTR partners in my younger days -- but the whole stupid virgin/whore thing can get pretty deeply embedded, and it took many years of screwing around to get it (mostly) hacked out of my brain.

And that experimenting was awesome. I figured out an immense amount about my sexuality during my casual sex years. I learned a huge amount about which of my fantasies were really things I liked, and which were things I just liked thinking about. I figured out that yes, I really was a dyke, and yes, I really was kinky. And I discovered things about my sexuality that I never would have imagined if I hadn't tried them. My sex life is about a billion times more satisfying now that I know what I do and don't like in bed... and now that I have the courage to ask for it. Like, duh.

I haven't stopped learning and experimenting now that I'm married. And plenty of people do plenty of experimenting with just one partner, and do it entirely happily. But that's not how it played out for me. And when I think about who I was in my twenties, I'm not sure it could have played out that way for me. When I think about who I was in my 20s, I think casual sex with a large-ish number of people was the only way I was going to get those experiments under my belt. As it were.

3: Pleasure without unwanted commitment. As you may have figured out from thLinkis piece, I was single for a long time. After my divorce and before I fell in love with Ingrid, I was single for 12 years. And they were good years. Most of them, anyway. Staying single for so long was a conscious decision, and it was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. After my divorce, I was pretty confused, with some seriously messed-up ideas about love and relationships, and I had a strong tendency to be attracted to needy, fucked-up drug addicts. Staying single for 12 years gave me a chance to get my head screwed on straight; to re-train myself to be attracted to people who had their act together; to wait for the right partner instead of jumping into commitment with whoever was available; to learn that I could be happy and fulfilled on my own. In fact, my relationship and marriage with Ingrid wouldn't be nearly as strong if I hadn't been single -- and happily single -- for so long. Go to page three

....And it don't come any realer than Alexyss Tylor telling it like it is. This is one Lady that knows her subject, likes the practice, and loves her homework. Way to go girl.

Taken from another previous post.

But then, and there is no allowance for this display of self induced hysteria; but then we have to round off, a couple of minutes and a couple of cunts from Texas, I'm sorry but there's no more befitting description I can think of for these two sanctimonious little fuck cunts for Jesus. The first little cunt is bad enough, but the second one!? fuck me! I haven't got the words for her, other than to say, pity the bloke this little cunt traps at the alter, pity him indeed.

Utah Tops The Wanking League

I'm still trying to decide the reason for Utah being tops in consuming porn. It couldn't be as simple as porn (and hypocrisy) being directly proportional to how much Jesus you got, surely not?

Perhaps it may be a shortage of young shagable females, they all being married off to church elders on reaching puberty; or thereabouts.

Anyway, it's quite academic really, because this little snippet of information is incidental, it being the result of a link from the main article, entitled, 10 Kinkiest Cities In America.

Nevertheless, when an article starts off with:

America's sexual pastimes have long been at odds with our puritanical roots. One such example of sexual contradiction is conservative Utah, which was found to be the largest consumer of online pornography a few years ago.

A fellow has no choice really other than to click the link.

A little taster from said article, and then on to kinky cities.

....However, there are some trends to be seen in the data. Those states that do consume the most porn tend to be more conservative and religious than states with lower levels of consumption, the study finds.

"Some of the people who are most outraged turn out to be consumers of the very things they claimed to be outraged by," Edelman says.....

....The biggest consumer, Utah, averaged 5.47 adult content subscriptions per 1000 home broadband users; Montana bought the least with 1.92 per 1000. "The differences here are not so stark," Edelman says. More New Scientist.

10 Kinkiest Cities In America
Wish Lonely Planet would stop being such a prude and release a guide to where you can let your inner freak flag fly?

America's sexual pastimes have long been at odds with our puritanical roots. One such example of sexual contradiction is conservative Utah, which was found to be the largest consumer of online pornography a few years ago. Despite America's sometimes shameful misgivings around sex, we can't seem to keep it in our pants. Wish Lonely Planet would stop being such a prude and release a guide to where you can let your inner freak flag fly? Well, look no further. Some cities cater to their constituents' wanton needs with festivals, clubs, or plain ol' randy reputation. Other cities get their sexy on more discreetly, thanks to the phenomenon known as the Internet. Whatever your preferred desire, the following places, in no particular order, can definitely show you a good time.

1. Roselawn, Indiana

Not only does Roselawn maintain a thriving (and family friendly!) nudist resort, the Ponderosa Sun Club also hosts a yearly pageant called “Nudes-A-Poppin,” MC’d by none other than famed porn star Ron Jeremy. It’s not just the strippers and porn stars shaking their money makers on stages and poles that draw thousands to this celebration every year; erotic dancing, public sex, and of course, exhibitionism abound. Located about 50 miles south of Chicago, on 88 acres of rural woodlands, Ponderosa also offers several G-rated recreational activities you never knew would be more awesome naked, like horseshoes, volleyball and chili cook-offs.

2. New Orleans, Louisiana

N’awlins, aka the Big Easy, has long had a reputation for debauchery. Of course, Mardi Gras, the infamous pre-Lent bacchanalian carnival has something to do with that, but New Orleans’ dirty dealings far exceed the typical Girls Gone Wild fare. Over an extended Labor Day weekend (starting the Wednesday prior), New Orleans hosts Southern Decadence, colloquially known as Gay Mardi Gras, but open to all orientations. This festival draws crowds upward of 300,000 from all over the U.S., with non-stop parties, “Big Dick” contests, and, well, sausage fests of the non-andouille variety. The South will rise again, indeed. Eight more.

Teenagers Like to Bonk Even Those From a Batshit Fundamentalist (Palin) Family

From a previous post: Is Our Children Learning Abstinence?

Apparently they isn't.

It may come as a surprise to learn, that asking young men and women of a certain age, the age achieved when nature plays it's little trick of flooding said young men and women with raging hormones and the overwhelming desire to penetrate and be penetrated, that asking them not to bonk doesn't appear to work.

Not only is it not working, but due to the misinformation about birth control, disseminated by the dangerous dreamers of the abstinence only brigade, teen pregnancies are on the rise again, reversing the trend of a steady fourteen year decline.

Sarah Palin's Views on Abstinence Lead to Second Grandchild

Sarah Palin is known for her strong beliefs against sex before marriage. She is staunchly opposed to sex education for teenagers as well the distribution of contraceptives in schools paid for by tax dollars.

In September 2008, Sarah's 17-year-old daughter Bristol announced that she was five months pregnant while her mother continued to support beliefs that obviously do not work within her own family. That year she also voted to cut funding to a program that helped support teen mothers, according to the Washington Post.

In the ultimate hypocrisy, Bristol went on to earn more than $260,000 in 2009 as an advocate against teen pregnancy while at the same time admitting that abstinence was not realistic.

In a not so surprising turn-of-events, the news that Sarah's son Track is expecting a baby with his wife Britta was just released Thursday.

Pictures of the new bride posted on Facebook show that she is rather obviously expecting, while her marriage took place just two months ago.

The quick ceremony prompted many to ask whether Britta was pregnant, but supporters of conservative Sarah became extremely upset, continuing to argue that the new couple was not expecting. It certainly seemed like a shot-gun wedding, and today it was finally confirmed that the pregnancy came before the marriage.

Track apparently did not listen to his mother's or sister's advice, and I wonder how long it will be before the rest of the Palins are multiplying faster than a calculator.

People said the family has not responded to a request for a comment in regard to the pregnancy.

Rosie Pope, star of the Bravo show "Pregnant in Heels," said of Britta's posted pictures, "In my opinion it looks like she is more than four months along, as it is not customary to have a baby shower so early in a pregnancy and first-time moms usually take longer to pop," according to the New York Daily News.

The Palins make an excellent example for the latest research on abstinence education. The National Sexuality Resource Center's Sexuality Research and Social Policy completed a recent study that showed abstinence-only education does not delay or prevent teens from having sex. These same programs that Palin and many other conservatives support have received $1.5 billion in federal funding.

The editor of the academic journal of SRSP, Brian Devries, stated, "Sex educators know. Teens know. Parents know. And the research shows it. When will our policies and interventions reflect what science, research and best practices demonstrate? We need comprehensive sexuality education that is truly comprehensive."

With a second premarital pregnancy in the Palin family, how much more proof do our hypocritical politicians and ultra conservative right-wing Christians need? Yahoo

Why I hate Religion. Chapter One Zillion And Two: HPV Vaccine

I was going to make the end of the headline read HPV Vaccine And The Bloody Catholics, but although this story features a Catholic school board it's not just the Catholics that are embracing near Islamic values when it comes to their daughters.

I feel like screaming, but I will say this to all the fucked up repressed sanctimonious religious cocksuckers that are against vaccination, you don't own your daughter, you have a duty to your daughter before any duty to some imaginary celestial super being. Do what is right, the question of choice shouldn't enter into the equation, not in a million years.

One In Four US Teens Has A STD

It's hardly surprising given all the junk science and lies the sanctimonious fucktards of religious America feed their kids. That a nations youth finds itself in this sorry state of affairs is simply terrible, the figures are truly appalling.

Eighteen percent have HPV virus, the same HPV virus that can be nullified with a vaccination when administered to girls before they become sexually active, the same vaccination that the good Christian parents don't wish their daughters to have in case it might encourage promiscuity in their darling little girls.

Given the high cost of the three injection course, £300/$600 for every girl in the country this has to be one of the best examples of preventive socialist medicine in the entire history of the National Health Service.

The Big Vibrate Inn and Sex Is Icky Page

Shurely shome mishtake, shouldn't that be In? it sounds like a hotel chain otherwise.

Anyway; what's with this first story, I thought all the dildos in Alabama were in the State Legislator and not in the shops? Sureley shome other mishtake?

I think to truly appreciate this story you need to know a brief history of what makes people buzz in Alabama, or perhaps more accurately, what's not giving them the opportunity to buzz. Fear not though, all is provided lower down the page as previously reported by moi.

May I remind you, the planet is fucked, the ice caps are melting, America, India and China are burning carboniferous fuel, both liquid and solid, at an alarming rate. Half the world is starving, half the world has no access to clean drinking water, America is bankrupt and rolling down hill like a snowball headed for hell, with no kind of chance for the Flag or the Liberty bell, and yes, the good times really are over for good.

It is the year of our Lord 2011, and what are we talking about? We are talking about vi-bra-tors, god-damned fucking vibrators! and we are talking about it in Ala-fuckin-bama, a state where you can buy a fucking gun! but you can't buy a fucking vibrator!

Alabama sex shop owner swaps 'Guns for Toys'

An Alabama sex shop owner has decided to do her bit for peace and luuurv this Valentine's Day, and is offering customers the chance to trade "Guns for Toys".

Sherri Williams, owneratrix of Pleasures, in Huntsville, hopes to take 300 firearms off the street before the offer wraps on 15 February. Customers are invited to roll up to the store between 11am and 7pm and flash their pieces to gun dealer David Smith, who'll assess the condition and value.

In return for their unwanted firearm, punters will walk off with something which can deliver an equally mighty bang, but with a greatly reduced risk of death.

According to local news outfit WAFF, Williams said "all guns that were used in a crime will be handed over to authorities while all others will be placed in an auction for sale on the store's website".

Part of the proceeds of this sale will benefit The Alabama Crime Victims' Compensation Commission, although it could be argued that reselling the guns is possibly not the best way to support the ACVCC's work.

In the end, though, it's doubtful flogging a few shooters online will have much effect on gun ownership levels in Alabama. It is considerably easier in the Yellowhammer State to get your hands on a gun than to bag a sex toy, since the local anti-obscenity law bans the sale of the latter unless it's for "medical or educational purposes".

Back in 2009, the Alabama Supreme Court rejected an appeal by the Love Stuff chain of shops claiming the law was "unconstitutional" and "unconstitutionally vague".

Owner Ross Winner explained that he was allowed to sell sex toys, but the devices had to be kept in "a back room" and staff were obliged to "ID everyone who enters and refuse sale to anyone who doesn’t fit the medical or educational criteria".

Ross claimed the purchase of a sex toy is a private matter, and the government "does not have the right to have input" on what goes on the intimacy of a citizen's home.

Judges kicked Ross's case into touch, decreeing that "public morality can still serve as a legitimate rational basis for regulating commercial activity, which is not a private activity". source

First Published under the title: It's a Funny Old World.

My site meter showed a recent visitor from Saudi Arabia (the first) the result of being directed here by a Google search for "Laura Bush vibrators"

Talking of dildos, Republican Representative Ralph Davenport seemingly wants South Carolina to join other states in the Global War on Vibrators.

A sex toy ban has already happened in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Texas. South Carolina could be next on that list.

But here I can't help but wonder, can you buy a gun in those states?

And not unnaturally some people asked the reasonable question and called Rep. Davenport to ask him the state purpose for such a law. (Proposal H4830 see Pam's House Blend Link)

He said some constituents had asked him to introduce the bill, and he hoped that if someone is caught kidnapping someone and using these devices on an unwilling victim, that this would be another offense with which they could be charged.

Whoa boy, whoa whoa whoa, say that again.

if someone is caught kidnapping someone and using these devices on an unwilling victim,

Well Freud I ain't, but Jesus H, what is going on in this tiny suppressed little mind? I don't know what it is boy, but there is some dark unfulfilled little fantasy churning about in there. I mean to say, how many of you as readers, look at a vibrator and see being kidnapped?

If that little sentence alone doesn't set the alarm bells a ringing, the hooters a hooting and the whistles a whistling I don't know what will. Un-fucking believable that anybody could come out with such a statement, if that is what is in his head, what else is in there? Lawdy lawdy!

But Davenport, who professes not to know what a sex toy is (the hell you don't) also proposed this bill. (H3273)

TO CREATE THE SOUTH CAROLINA UNBORN CHILDREN'S MONUMENT COMMISSION TO ERECT A MONUMENT ON THE STATE HOUSE GROUNDS AS A MEMORIAL TO SOUTH CAROLINA CHILDREN WHOSE LIVES ENDED BEFORE THEIR BIRTH

In the state house grounds this fellow wants to build a monument to a foetus! A nutcase you'd be thinking, a lone nutcase. Sorry, there are thirty three, yes thirty three* sponsors of this bill. (new link*)

Now at this point I have to tell you, I'm struggling with this story, struggling inasmuch that I'm having a problem getting my head around the fact there are thirty three grown men and women that have put their names forward to endorse the building of a "Foetus for Jesus" monument, I'm struggling with it a great deal indeed.

I asked further up the page what was it that was going on in Davenport's head, well if you pop over to Pam's House Blend where she asks you to Look at Davenport's level of detail and research that obviously went into crafting this masterpiece of legislation.

So what conclusion can I reach about yer man Davenport, well for a man that don't know nuttin about sex toys, he knows a great deal about sex toys, and strangely enough an awful lot about all the Icky places that they might go.

I must stop this practice of getting up in the middle of the night for a cuppa (tea) it was never my intention to write this piece, not the first under similar circumstances, and I doubt the last.
So to round it off a couple of limericks that I dashed off at the time.

All us girls down South Caroline,
Scrub at sin 'till we do shine.
But to take away,
So we can't play.
Don't you dare it's mine mine mine.

My Daddy has asked me to,
Keep myself so pure and true.
But my little toy,
Gives so much joy.
Bet it knows much more than you.

New Update:
Gardner believes it would be good publicity, "I believe it would be a tourist attraction. No other state in our nation has such a monument."

You don't say.

1st Update:

(2) 'patently offensive' means obviously and clearly disagreeable, objectionable, repugnant, displeasing, distasteful, or obnoxious to contemporary standards of decency and propriety within the community.

(3) 'prurient interest' means a shameful or morbid interest in nudity, sex, or excretion and is reflective of an arousal of lewd and lascivious desires and thoughts.

I think this must be Davenport's way of saying it's worth watching.

Which only leaves me only to say: Only In Ameriki folks, only in Ameriki.

Texas Is Buzzing Vibrator Law Overturned

I shall not write a word.

What the judges wrote

"Just as in Lawrence, the state here wants to use its law to enforce a public moral code by restricting private intimate conduct," the judges wrote in the 2-1 ruling. "This case is not about public sex. It is not about controlling commerce in sex. It is about controlling what people do in the privacy of their own homes because the state is morally opposed to a certain type of of consensual private intimate conduct."more

Sex Toys: Mississippi Back in The "News" Again

.
Stroll on! and the bloody TV station even send a crew out and conduct their own little "sting," what a bunch of repressed fucktards.

If this is what constitutes a news story in Jackson Mississippi then all I can say is thank God the Atlantic Ocean lies between us.

What will they ban next, Teddy Bears?

There is a video with the story that for whatever reasons only wants to deliver audio to my machine.

Update: Video here. Merci beaucoup to anonymous in the comments.

And it is here, at this point, as a European, and if I could find the words I would scream them out, this is just so fucking bizarre, so absolutely fucking culturally bizarre. The television station is featuring on the news, a sting that they instigated, about buying a fucking vibrator! Honestly, really and truly in all honesty, my brain just doesn't have a reference point for this. It just won't compute it.

America! it's not another country, it's another world entirely.

Adult Video and Books on McDowell Road in Jackson is apparently selling illegal sex toys again.
Jackson police raided the store at least two times last year after an undercover sting. Three people were arrested and several boxes of sex toys were seized.
A "3 on Your Side" undercover investigation shows that the business is back at it again and is not even discreet about selling the devices.
WLBT received the tip, so we decided to go undercover to see if it was true.

Kandiss Crone entered the store and said "Hi...I'm going to a bachelorette party, I'm looking for a sex toy."
After looking over the stock Kandiss said "Can i have that purple one?"
As soon as the sale was completed our team walked back into the store to confront the owner.
Kandiss: "Hi charles, I'm Kandiss Crone from WLB. I understand this business was raided for selling sex toys illegally. I just purchased this sex toy and it is still illegal to sell them in the state of mississippi. Even though you were raided last year and you're still selling them, what is your response to that?more

Sex Toy Ban Remains Intact
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The U.S. Supreme Court declined Monday to hear a challenge to Alabama's ban on the sale of sex toys, ending a nine-year legal battle and sending a warning to store owners to clean off their shelves.
An adult-store owner had asked the justices to throw out the law as an unconstitutional intrusion into the privacy of the bedroom. The Supreme Court declined to hear the appeal, leaving intact a lower court ruling that upheld the law. more

No Sex Toys Allowed You're In Dixie Now

You are by now probably aware of my feelings regarding the repressed puritans of America, so I am not going to reiterate, you can read about the subject here or here, or you can go to Babeland's Blog and have far more interesting experience as you read away

Yesterday the Eleventh Circuit court held that Alabama’s ban on sex toys is constitutional. On Valentine’s Day of all days! The ruling does so on the grounds “that Alabama has an interest in preserving “public morality” against the sale of such devices.” This ban does not prohibit owning sex toys or using them, just (just!) buying them anywhere in the state of Alabama........

While you are over at Babeland's Blog not looking in the left hand sidebar at what she has to offer the discerning perv, and not placing your order for one or more of her Premium Vibes or any number of other interesting little tricks, or not placing an order in the waterproof section for little Ducky that would bring a whole new dimension to bathnight, while you're not doing any of those things, don't read the (unfortunately few) comments on the page. A snippet below.

From Texas:
An adult bookstore employee in El Paso, Texas, sued the state after his arrest for showing two undercover officers a device shaped like a penis and telling the female officer the device would arouse and gratify her.
The employee, Ignacio Sergio Acosta, says a Texas law outlawing the manufacture, marketing or dissemination of an “obscene device” including those shaped like sex organs.........

Democracy! I’ll Take Anarchy Any Day

Georgia House bans genital piercings for women.

The Associated Press - ATLANTA

“Genital piercings for women were banned by the Georgia House Wednesday as lawmakers considered a bill outlining punishments for female genital mutilation

The bill would make such mutilation punishable by two to 20 years (sic)in prison. It makes no exception for people who give consent to have the procedure performed on their daughters out of religious or cultural custom.

An amendment adopted without objection added, "piercing" to the list of things that may not be done to female genitals. Even adult women would not be allowed to get the procedure. The bill eventually passed 160-0, with no debate.

Amendment sponsor Rep. Bill Heath, R-Bremen, was slack-jawed when told after the vote that some adults seek the piercings.

"What? I've never seen such a thing," Heath said. "I, uh, I wouldn't approve of anyone doing it. I don't think that's an appropriate thing to be doing."

The ban applies only to women, not men. The bill has already been approved by the Senate but now must return to that chamber because of the piercing amendment. Both chambers of the Legislature must agree on a single version of a bill before it can go to the governor for final approval.”

I can only assume the proposed bill was originally intended to address the custom of female circumcision but then went on to included consensual adult female piercing.

Two to twenty years; I wouldn’t have a problem with the full twenty being handed down to any parent who subjected a daughter to such a selfish act of barbarism, in fact if religion were cited as the reason for carrying out this heinous act, I would give them forty years.

And my reasons would not be, as you might have so easily gathered, that I am anti religion, for this practice is nothing whatsoever to do with religion, it is but for the purposes of subjugating women and robbing them of their sexuality and as such, make them less likely to “stray.”
And in doing so, bolster against the overriding insecurity of the misogynist males that abound in the countries where this practice still takes place.

Having said all this I cannot get my head round that the reasons for this legalisation are enlightenment and altruism, not in, of all places, Georgia.
No, I fancy it more for the “icky” factor, ickyness being related to the goings on that occur in the region between the navel and the knee.

One only has to read the article to have my views endorsed.

“The bill eventually passed 160-0

With no debate.”

Bill Heath, Repub. (how could he be other than?) was slack-jawed when told after the vote that some adults seek the piercings.

"What? I've never seen such a thing," Heath said. "I, uh, I wouldn't approve of anyone doing it. I don't think that's an appropriate thing to be doing."

I, UH, I WOULDN’T APPROVE OF ANYONE DOING IT.

If that sentence alone doesn’t have you screaming then nothing will.

The ban applies only to women, not men.

Montoya on Mosely : Stoddart on Mosely

.
Well you can imagine that it ain't going to be no love letter from Stoddy.

Writing for Pitpass, the best opinion site for F1, who incidentally are so worried to death that someone might copy paste a few of their precious words and consequently go to great pains to make sure you don't, leaves me only to say Stoddie's article can be read here.

Monty on the other hand is pissing himself with laughter.

“I was so shocked by it,” Montoya – a six-time grand prix-winner for McLaren-Mercedes and Williams-BMW – commented in an interview with the Associated Press. “When they sent [the video] to me, I was like ‘no way!' Now, I'm just like ‘Hey, he's just an old guy trying to have some fun'.

“I loved it – it's a laughing matter! You know, when I first heard about it, it was shocking, but then he decided to play it like nothing has happened and it's just so hilarious.”more from the man.

I just couldn't resist adding a torture label to this, I'm such a bad bugger, pmsl.

Why Do Some Google Searches Go Viral?

.

They come in all colours, shapes and sizes; tits that is, or more specifically for the purpose of this post, bare tits.

I could change the subject matter, for their have been previous subjects, that for reasons unknown and especially to me, that have gone viral in Google searches.

Why so? I haven't the foggiest idea and if there is someone out there that can give me an answer I would be more than grateful.

As I mention, there have been other stories that have gone off the scale in the way of searches, but the one that most sticks in the mind was this one:
Aunty Maiduguri And Her Four "Wives"

With the follow up here:
Aunty Maiduguri To replace Sappho?

And in part I said this at the second article:

I have just totted up "aunty maiduguri" hits to the blog made via a Google search, fifty four hits from Google out of the last hundred visits, and from every corner of the globe.
Why the interest? I haven't a clue.

The above just about says it all, so if we apply the same to this story and ask the same question, it's not unreasonable to come up with the same answer, I haven't a clue.

So let's have a look at the story that's causing the current wave of inexplicable interest.

It is hardly an earth shattering revelation, nor a story that is current, but the hits for "bums for Bush" have been many but the hits for "bare tits" are off the scale and have been so for weeks.

There must be, I can only assume, some mechanism in place that promotes people to make this specific search, it can't be from porn fans as I'm sure no self respecting porn head would be Googling bare tits, I rather think their searches would be, shall I say, a tad more interesting.

Can anybody enlighten me as to why?

Now having written all this I can indulge myself in decorating the post with my kind of "bare tits."

Wot No Sheilas? Bums Out For Bush

Judging from the photo it's just the blokes dropping their strides. What ever happened to tits out for the lads?

A protest involving around 50 bare-bottomed activists spilled onto Sydney streets today, stalling an APEC motorcade and triggering scuffles with police.

The Bums for Bush campaign was hailed a success by organisers, even though drizzling rain kept many protesters away from the mooning anti-Bush protest.

Around 50 people lined up at Hyde Park's north end and mooned an audience of several hundred people, including supporters and media. more

And just to prove the point this is a screen capture from today.
