Boogity Boogity Boogity Prayin' Over Let's Go Racing Boys

I'll admit to watching NASCAR on quite a regular basis. My reasons for doing so can be found throughout my various posts under the NASCAR tag in the side bar.

If you have never watched NASCAR, or more specifically the pre-race build up, it more than likely will be a bit of a culture shock, putting it somewhat mildly.

Dripping as it does, with nauseating degrees of Jesus, jingoism and hypocrisy, the pre-race build up is truly, bring your barf bag. Perhaps you might like to click the link to get a better understanding of both NASCAR and the post below.

God and NASCAR is just one of the many links to be found under my own NASCAR tag. Others can be found there covering that other equally nauseating NASCAR phenomenon, the US Military.

There is always a strong military presence at a race meet, (1st & 2nd clips) no better highlighted than at this previous post: It's The Cannon Fodder Don't You See? Complete with one more Youtube video and its relative comments, here but the one.

What a disgusting & garish display of religious kitsch and hillbilly / jingoist nonsense. I hope the tax payer did not have to pay for this inbred, mountain dew display.

I have to say though, that in all three clips you are spared the ''and protecting freedom around the world'' crap, uttered in the mandatory invocation. Because frankly, I have listened to these words of hypocritical shite more times than I care to admit to.

So having gotten all the merde out of the way, NASCAR on a lighter note.

Thank you God for a smokin’ hot wife … oh, and Dodges, Toyotas and Fords

ONLY 52 percent of Americans, according to a new poll, think that the Almighty is doing a good job as CEO of the universe.

But at the weekend one man – a Baptist preacher in Tennessee – appeared to give God unqualified approval when he thanked the deity for providing him with a “smokin’ hot wife”.

Joe Nelms, pastor at the Family Baptist Church in Lebanon, had been invited to pray at a motor racing event – the NASCAR Nationwide Federated Auto Parts 300 on Saturday in Nashville.

He also thanked God:

For the Dodges and the Toyotas. Thank you for the Fords. Thank you for Sunoco racing fuels and Goodyear tires.

He ended his prayer with the words:

In Jesus’ name. Boogity, boogity, boogity. Amen.

The track erupted in applause and laughter, with some folks in the stadium even tipping their hat to the man – but not everyone was impressed with Nelms’ choice of colourful words.

The pastor, who has done the invocation at the Nashville event three times before, said he has received plenty of emails since the invocation and although most of them are positive, quite a few have been negative.

Critics have blasted the Tennessee pastor for being “disgraceful”, “disrespectful” and even “blasphemous” – but Nelms said he was just making a break from tradition. more

NASCAR: It's The Cannon Fodder Don't You See?

WASHINGTON — The Minnesota (left wing pinko socialist who hates God, America and NASCAR) Democrat who's out to get rid of the Pentagon's sponsorships for NASCAR teams says she won't back away from her efforts and, despite GOP resistance, will broaden her fight to repeal tax breaks for track owners, too.

Rep. Betty McCollum says her work could save American taxpayers tens of millions of dollars. But Defense Department officials and lawmakers from NASCAR country say the sponsorships help military recruitment, and that the tax breaks could save jobs in the struggling economy.

In an interview Friday, McCollum said it doesn't make sense to keep the benefits for NASCAR teams and track owners when other cuts are being made to community health care, programs for homeless veterans and Head Start.

"I started to look what is in this large defense budget to see what's not related to security that we could redirect to critical supplies or mission support," she said. "Or in the case of racetrack owners, what are some of the special tax perks that some of the special interests are getting?"

She plans to file legislation to prohibit Pentagon sponsorships of dragsters, Indy cars, stock cars and motorcycle racing, affecting just about every level of motorsports. more

There has for some time now been lurking in me, an article about the US Army's picking ground for its cannon fodder, the NASCAR weekend. So having been made aware by email of Betty McCollum's efforts to curtail tax payer sponsorship, via the armed forces, of various motor sport events, I did a quick search of the net, and sure enough, there was enough there already writ that I could have let others do it for me.

But rather than chose one of the current articles to do the job for me, I settled for a 2005 piece that was straight from the horses mouth so to speak, NASCAR itself.

What I will do however, for the enlightenment of my less informed readers from around the world, is to up a couple of short clips of some of the goings on at a NASCAR event. With one such clip I have imported comments n'all.

I have chopped this article up, just to give you the relative content, full article at the link.

Armed services target NASCAR and its fans

If you look at the pit area at a Nextel Cup or Busch Series race, you see a lot of different logos.

What you'll also see is $30 million of advertising aimed at NASCAR fans by our nation's armed forces.

Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines. ... they're all there, and the reason is simple: NASCAR fans are some of the most patriotic citizens we have, and if you're in the business of recruiting, you go where potential recruits will be.

More jingoistic military shite here.

The mobile marketing compound that helps anchor the midway at most every race features a 25-foot climbing wall, a Humvee simulator and an interactive "patrol" where the potential recruit shoots laser "bullets" at imaginary enemies. There's also a station where visitors can get their names stamped onto replica dog tags, and a trailer that houses other exhibits explained by Army specialists.

All this is cool, but what does the Army get for all the high-tech, high-dollar advertising?

Plenty. According to a recent article in the Boston Globe, NASCAR is the Army's top program for generating leads for its recruiters. Col. Thomas Nickerson, the director of advertising for the U.S. Army, told the Globe that NASCAR has "a massive fan base that allows us to talk to as many people as we can.

Our goal is to talk to face to face, in influencers, parents and prospects. It makes good business sense."

Recruiting is the backbone of the Army, since the United States military is all volunteer, and using NASCAR to promote service to one's country is an idea that works well.

One Army recruiter said that NASCAR events were the kind the Army wanted to be part of, as race fans are traditionally very supportive of the nation's defense.

Which leads me to beg the question, who sponsored this, surely not....?

According to the Army, a typical weekend at a NASCAR track yields from 1,000 to 2,500 potential recruits. Extrapolated out over the full NASCAR season, that translates to about 40,000 names. All will be contacted at least once by the recruiting office in their region.

In addition to the Army, the other branches of the military are also using NASCAR as a resource to aid recruiting.

Military presence at NASCAR races has always been high, from the pilots who do the flyovers to the Color Guard, and they are by and large welcomed with open arms. That is especially true since 9/11.

Or better still, this! George Bush's Whitehouse?

NASCAR fans, like few other groups, have embraced the men and women who defend this country at home and abroad, and most of the military personnel at the tracks are amazed at the reception they get from fans and competitors alike.

The Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines recognize that NASCAR fans are patriotic, stand-up people, and they recruit from a base they know is suitable to their needs. That's similar to what all the other companies involved in NASCAR do, when you boil it down. full article

You can say what you like about NASCAR, but it puts on a show and it puts bums on seats, but it also has God by far too much in a bad way.

No comment, other than perhaps, I wonder what Montoya makes of it all?

• @JackHabbit When people say "America," they usually associate that with the USA because we have the same word in the name of our country. USA stands for United States of America. North America is a continent. This is where the USA is located. Canada, for example, didn't include the word America in it's name so nobody refers to Canada as America, even though it is on the same continent. Nobody is associating you with us. We wouldn't do that.

• America is a continent not a country!!! The U.S only have a small portion of North America... not even 20% of America is part of the U.S so quit associating the rest of us with you uneducated patriots.

*****Well; what are we to make of musicMan1445? Is he a Solja Boy, or is he just an undereducated semi-literate redneck wanabee? I may be wrong, but I will go for wanabee, based on the assumption that anybody who had actually experienced a stint of combat might not be so vocal or so keen to try and glorify this shite.

And I have never quite grasped the logic, even though I am the recipient of such, of how invading Iraq somehow gave me the freedom to, post shity comments like that.

Well That's a Bugger! No NASCAR

The Feds have nicked me stream, the miserable twats.
Too late in the night/early in the morning to look for another one.

And it ain't because I'm too cheap to buy things that I watch a freeby, I would much prefer to part with gold for a decent quality stream, but as far as I know, there ain't no such animal.

http://www.channelsurfing.net/ RIP

I don't suppose I'm the kind of fellow one would normally associate with NASCAR, but having followed JP Montoya from Formula One to NASCAR, and though it's taken a year or two I have become quite a fan of roundy roundy racing. And no, not for the wrecks, but for better and more exciting racing than F1 has managed to produce in recent years. Last year being the exception of course.

Li'l ol' redneck me.

Here you go, five minutes of the Bud Shootout, not part of the Sprint Cup Series, more a shake down race I suppose. Boogity boogity boogity, let's go racing boys!

Valencia F1 Loosing The Will To Live

.
Without the slightest shadow of doubt, Valencia, the most dismal poxy ridiculous god-forsaken venue to ever host a Grand Prix.

A venue where you can never get an overall view or perception of the race. A venue that in terms of atmosphere reflects only and exactly what it is, an industrial dockland and absolutely no place to hold Formula One event.

Not last year, not this year not ever.

Combine that above with the incessant over emphasised ramblings of Jonathan, I'm such a loud mouthed ignorant fucking gobshite, Legard, then it really takes away my will to live.

So to Bernie Ecclestone who brought this dismal place to the Formula One calendar, you are a cunt.
To the BBC, if next year you continue your otherwise excellent coverage with Legard as part of the team then you can stick your licence fee* up your fucking arse, and I ain't kidding, I will watch it as a re-run on line,... so endeth the rant.

The winner, Rubino well done you old bugger, if it wasn't going to be a McLaren win then I cannot think of who I would rather see on the top step.

I do like Rubens he's a nice bloke and whereas I thought him well out of order with his recent outburst I can empathise with him. Having to play second fiddle to Schumaker all those years can't have been at all easy.

Not as a racing driver in his own right it can't have been, and let's face it, Rubens is racy racing driver, far more so than half the lacklustre pedestrian buggers that turn up at each race and only go through the motions.

I have done a fair bit of racing over the years albeit in a totally different animal to a F1 car, but I shared something that Rubens has, the overwhelming desire to win, and it's that overwhelming desire coupled with frustration that on the odd occasion has clouded Rubino's judgement somewhat.

That desire to be first is fundamental to all successful sportsmen not just racing drivers, it's what I believe makes the Yankees so successful in the sporting arena, we Brits might celebrate a silver or bronze medal and think we did well, to the Americans silver is the first looser.

On a slightly different note, and I don't want to write too much on the subject for I'm hoping to write much more in the near future.

It was with much wailing, wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth that I greeted the news that Juan Pablo Montoya was moving to NASCAR.
Three years leaning a new trade, two of those years operating with inferior kit, JPM is now doing pretty well, lying seventh in rankings with I think just four races to go before the cut-off for the Sprint Cup Chase where only the top twelve drivers compete for the actual cup in a series of ten races.

Whereas redneck racing wouldn't normally hold a great deal of interest for me, with Juan the man in contention I do watch it live online, race times vary depending on daytime or evening starts unfortunately a late start tonight 7pm EST here are two feeds for live viewing if don't want to watch the whole thing you can watch highlights or lap by lap at NASCAR.com usually within twenty four hours of the end of the race.

NASCAR MayBe Injurious To Your Health

.

But you can get inoculated against hepatitis A, hepatitis B, tetanus, diphtheria and influenza, so there you go.

NASCAR fans might seem rabid, but are they actually contagious?

Getting a hepatitis shot is standard procedure for travelers to parts of Africa and Asia, but some congressional aides were instructed to get immunized before going to Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord and the racetrack in Talladega, Ala.

The House Homeland Security Committee planned a fact-finding trip about public health preparedness at mass gatherings and decided to conduct the research at two of the nation's most heavily attended sporting events,

Second Place Finish For Montoya At The Brickyard

Nice one Monty

Montoya shines in Brickyard debut

By Diego Mejia Monday, July 30th 2007, 02:41 GMT

Juan Pablo Montoya scored his best oval result in NASCAR on Sunday, coming second to Tony Stewart in the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, his eighth race at Indy but his first in a stock car at the 2.5-mile oval.

The Colombian started the race from the front row beside teammate Reed Sorenson, ran comfortably in the top five for most of the distance, and closed on the leaders in the last few laps, overtaking Jeff Gordon with 18 laps remaining and taking second from Kevin Harvick with only three laps to go.

"At the start of it I was just happy to run and stay in the top-five and try to maybe make the car better," Montoya said.

"We did a little bit of tyre pressure and track bar changes. We put a hell of a lot of track bar in the car today and couldn't get it to free up. The only time it was free was when I stopped when it was under green."

Montoya was lucky to survive a puncture on his left front when he was just about to pit for the last time under green on lap 128. Although he lost a couple of spots due to the tyre blowing up, he was able to get those positions back on the track.

The former Indy 500 winner was hoping his rivals would pit when the last caution flag of the day came out with 23 laps remaining. He was planning to stay on the track if the leaders pitted, but in the end none of them did.

"They told me 'If everybody pits we're going to stay out.' And I said 'Yeah, but to be honest, the 20 (Stewart's car) is too fast. Even if he pits he's still going to come out and beat us.' And they stayed out but I don't think anybody had anything for Tony today."

Montoya was excited to be able to overtake while battling at the front, something he said he had been unable to do before.

"It's exciting. I tell you, I'm happy. It's the first actual race that I could pass. Normally I get to like 12th and you start to try to get runs on people and you can't and today it was something. I could really go at it."

The Colombian admitted that the nature of the track, which has little banking and four 90-degree corners instead of two of 180 degrees, might have helped him to be quick all weekend.

"The track, to learn, is pretty simple," he said. "I found it pretty simple when I came here the first time. It's a very different oval but it's a mixture of an oval and a road course. I like it.

"It's funny because I was telling my crew chief most of the times when we have problems is just past the center of a normal oval corner and here, just past the center, you're out of the corner. I think it worked pretty good."

Montoya's second place in the race has moved him up two places in the championship and has him now 200 points away from the 12th place in the standings. He was 304 off before this weekend, which makes him think that making the Chase is still possible.

"I tell you the truth, if you could get this type of finish for the next three races then you have a chance," he said.

"If you go next weekend and you have an average weekend then you're out. It doesn't mean that we're going to give up. I think we're going to go more forward to try to get wins than get into the Chase."

Montoya will be testing this week at VIR with the Car of Tomorrow in preparation for the second and last road-course event of the year for the Nextel Cup, which takes place in two weeks at Watkins Glen. He won his first Cup race in a road-course last month at Sonoma, California.

Boogity-Boogity-Boogity Let's Go Prayin'

No thanks I think I'll pass, and I'll pass on the T-shirt as well.

I have to admit to being on NASCAR'S email list, I like to see how "My Man" Montoya is getting along, but I must say I find the entrenchment of religion and prayer in Nascar, in a word , nauseating. Exampled here, but I'm glad to see not everybody is having it.

*Portrait of a Redneck Racer

(*self portrait)

The blog had a Google hit yesterday from keywords "Nascar Prayer", curiosity getting the better of me I followed it back to the results page where I came across this fellow describing himself, God and Nascar, oh yes and the bombers, cant leave the bombers out of it.

For the uninitiated, NASCAR is not just 43 cars making constant left turns. It's a happening, drenched in God, Country and Capitalism. It's our opportunity to rub it in the faces of the socialist PC crowd and rub it in we do. NASCAR is loud, pungent and exhilarating.
About the time the performer hits "...home of the brave," a formation of military aircraft performs a low flyover, sending the fans into a frenzy.

I was about to write that I wouldn't like to have been stood in front of him, not wanting a raging hard on stuck in my back as it were, but then got to thinking he's probably a tiny dicked sad fuck that needs a bit of compensation for what he lacks in his pants, to say nothing of his head.

This fellow also had a few words to say on the subject, sans erection.

Nascar Prayer Car. Only in America

All links dead.

Pass the bag I'm going to throw up. Scroll down.

Nascar news release.

Brought to you by the delusional sanctimonious
smug owners of the WASP American God.

And just in case you don't know who to pray for there is a long list of mass murderers, war criminals, torturers and liars that can be found here.

Update:
What to Pray For

Through this prayer guide, you will have an opportunity to petition God on behalf of our leaders and those who are in authority over us, as we are instructed to do in 1 Timothy 2:1-2: As you humbly come before the Lord and seek His face, please pray that these men and women will be granted divine wisdom, guidance and strength to fulfill their important roles.

Apart from the writing ad nauseum, what kind of wanker would ask anybody to be so
subservient, other than a subservient wanker or somebody with a control agenda? Baaah Baaah.
