Even the pope had sent a letter asking the state to stay the execution.The attention stemmed from an extraordinary reversal of testimony: Seven of nine key witnesses who said at trial that Davis killed a Savannah policeman in 1989 had recanted.
Tuesday, the Georgia Supreme Court will hear oral arguments about whether the recanted testimony should be heard in a court of law.more
