  13. Hi Maren, I'm going through your links as and when.

I don't think your link tallies with this, but it would be nice to have if you can track it down.

Madeleine's family have created a poster appealing for people with information to call Crimestoppers

Which I think, tells us all we need to know about crime stoppers.

Meanwhile, Madeleine's uncle, John McCann, from Glasgow, countered criticism from those who say the couple were wrong to leave their children alone in the holiday apartment while they ate dinner at a nearby restaurant.

"If you look at the layout of that place, it was entirely safe. The issue at stake here was, that the flat was broken into, and wee Madeleine was abducted," he told BBC Radio Five Live.

Pennies from heaven and just the quote with which to update MM was not abducted.

    Nice one Chuck.

    https://thoughtsofaleicestersocialist.wordpress.com/2013/11/09/stopping-crime-stoppers/

So-called charities like Crimestoppers therefore form a vital part of the propaganda offensive that elites wage against the rest of us, doing much to help misdirect our attention from the real criminality of the corporate world, while insidiously sowing seeds of distrust among our local neighbourhoods. “You never know whose a criminal these days, so may sure you keep a watchful eye on your neighbours,” so the message goes.

It is beyond me that some people think the McCanns lied about coloboma. They simply couldn’t afford such a lie. Just imagine what all the people who knew Madeleine would think. Interesting photo nonetheless as she wasn’t a marketing ploy at the time. I also cannot get away from the impression that there’s something "special" about her nose and mouth.

Total bullshit, the story broke on TV in the UK within hours of the disappearance I was up late that night and SKY were reporting it almost as soon as it happened which at the time I felt was very very strange because they already had one of their reporters in the resort; Jo Wheeler (who just happened to be there ) at the time! Perhaps the McCanns did not phone SKY news because Jo Wheeler had already phoned the office to report it, but what ever happened it was reported by SKY that night.

    by angela » Tue Apr 01, 2008 10:32 pm

The first news broke on Sky between 12.00am and 02.30am in the wee hours of the 4th May. My daughter and I watched it together, and we both remember talking about how bizarre it was that a child that had been missing in Portugal for only two hours should be considered a breaking news item on Sky news. I still remember my daughter saying 'erm...isn't this a story for the local radio station in Portugal? Someone might have seen her.' We both thought she must have wandered off and would be found by the morning.

Several posters on the MF saw the same news report.

Wasn’t Kate just feeding the idea that Maddie was ‘abducted’ alive? A dead child cannot give them her tuppence worth. Along the same lines as Kate’s I kept picturing her in her short-sleeved Marks & Spencer Eeyore pyjamas and feeling how chilled she would be. Just to mention another example.

"If she is dead then she is dead but not by their hand."

    14 Oct 2007

A friend of Kate and Gerry McCann said: "Any widening of the search area is encouraging and we would welcome that. It does sound as though there is more vigour in that aspect of the inquiry which is good."

He added that while it would be a "tragedy" for the family if police searches eventually yield the little girl's body, at least it would help lift the cloud of suspicion from them.

"If she is dead then she is dead but not by their hand," he said.

  87. Some interesting exchanges recently...

But not to worry. As Peter Jukes has condescended to explain, any perception of a McCann "cover up" can be easily understood given the inevitability of journalistic error. After 8 years of seeing this poor child's memory being whored through the media, such are his conclusions. Erudite conclusions, I don't doubt.

I wonder what species of error he might ascribe to an MPS "operation" in an overseas jurisdiction, costing £10,000,000, employing 31 detectives, working to a prescriptive remit, and broadcasting a reconstruction that airbrushed a key witness completely out of the scene...

Such is Leveson: a changing of the "guard" but naturally, they march to the same metre. They are of the same body, and share the same instincts. I really begin to wonder which is the least desirable faction of this media turf war; is it the overt guttersnipe mentality of NI, or the veneer of the Leveson junkies?

Agreed!! Hence my anger at people such as Jukes.

When he dismissively says that scrutiny of the McCanns lacks "credibility" I think we know what he attempts to denigrate.

This comes from a "journalist" who lauds a judicial process that insistently misrepresented the facts of a missing child case as an abduction. And of course when Brenda Leyland was hounded to death, Jukes, just like "Hacked Off", said not a word (certainly not to my knowledge). Truly vulnerable people are mere pawns to them, and of course that would include Madeleine herself, so exploited by Leveson.

    Such are their "meeja ethics".

Anyway, being aware of your desire always to improve your command of English, I feel I should point out a small failure in mine!

I wrote in that essay(accidentally, I hope) : 'on her possession'

which is an unfortunate blend of two different phrases: 'on her person' and 'in her possession'.

One or the other would have done, but I incorrectly fused them together. I should have checked the spelling before pressing the 'post it' button but it's quite possible that I simply hit the wrong key when typing ('i' and 'o' being adjacent).

That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it!

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunglish

Former prime minister Pieter Sjoerds Gerbrandy had a meeting with Winston Churchill in London. Gerbrandy entered the room and shook Churchill's hand, saying: "Good-day!" Churchill responded: "This is the shortest meeting I have ever had". Gerbrandy had looked up the English translation of goedendag, which in Dutch can be both used as a greeting and a valediction. "Good day" in British English is most often used as valediction, as opposed to "good morning" or "good afternoon".

How we double Dutch have to suffer at times, ain’t that so Himself?

Martin was first to report the arrest of Amy Winehouse, the resignation of Sir Ian Blair, and was the first to interview Madeleine McCann suspect Robert Murat, he has also covered both the First Gulf War and the Balkan War. Martin’s contacts led to Sky News being first to report that the July 7 events in London were the work of terrorists and allowed Sky News to break the news of the death of the Queen Mother. During the Ipswich murders, a Suffolk Police Press Officer remarked to another journalist, as reported in the Times: ‘Call Martin Brunt. He knows everything before we do.’

    https://corporate.sky.com/media-centre/biogs/sky-news/martin-brunt

"Call Martin Brunt. He knows everything before we do."

He has a reputation for gaining insider information: Hugo Rifkind reported in The Times diary of 22 December 2006:

"High praise for the Sky News crime correspondent Martin Brunt. When a hack from (another) newspaper phoned Suffolk Police press office with a query on the serial killer case, he was told: 'Call Martin Brunt. He knows everything before we do.' A little concerning."

    (...)

In October 2014, Brunt was the journalist involved in revealing the identity of Brenda Leyland, who had posted comments concerning the McCann investigation on social media. Following the revelation and a report to Leicestershire Police, Brunt and a camera crew confronted Leyland at her home. Following the confrontation Leyland was later found dead in a hotel, leading to calls on social media for Brunt to be sacked.

Even to the many cops I don't know I have become a familiar feature on the pavement outside Scotland Yard. In keeping with their conservative message, the founder and chairman of Crimestoppers happens to be Lord Michael Ashcroft, the former deputy chairman of the Conservative Party (2005-10). A man who alongside his chosen hobby of stoking fear among the working class, provides a prime example of how the 1% turn a tidy profit from the exploitation of the 99%. One disgusting way in which he does this is through his significant financial investment in Medacs Healthcare, a private company that provides agency staff to the NHS at generously inflated costs.

Or one might note how another company forming part of Lord Ashcroft’s tax avoidance business empire is a data storage company known as Restore plc, which is chaired by Sir William Wells — who has a related sideline in profiting from the dismantling of the public care home system in Britain (a process which is aided and abetted here in Leicester by the Labour party) through his being a board member of the elderly care company HC-One. Here he works closely with HC-One board chairman, Chai Patel who is an advisor to the private equity healthcare vulture Bridgepoint Capital (see “Healthcare for the few”).

  154. Good morning Martin R.

I don’t know if it is of any importance (I’m still trying to educate myself).

The arms smuggling was passed off in the joint British-Irish government's policy of 'constructive ambiguity' over the supposed non-existence of the Provisional IRA.

    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/mcguigan-murder-shows-that-the-ira-is-intact-armed-and-killing-31470930.html

Just like the poster you quoted in your article, I don’t believe the reason for protection leads to a high level paedophile gang. Perhaps there is an indirect link. Anyway, it seems to be the McCanns’ favourite topic, which in itself I find more than suspicious.

Kate McCann gave this interview to The Irish Sunday Mirror on Friday morning, hours before being made an arguida - official suspect - in the Madeleine inquiry.

    http://newsoutlines.blogspot.nl/2007/09/police-dont-want-paedophile-murder-here.html

    -----------------------------

What manner of 'pup' might the McCanns have been able to sell their new found friends, such that they would line up behind them without demur? Given their relative unfamiliarity to each other, one might suppose the more likely reaction to any announcement of some fatal, non-accidental trauma, would be, 'this is where I get off', not 'this is OUR secret'.

You worded my thoughts, so to speak, and I wish I could answer that question. Here again, I don’t think it has to do with paedophilia or the, in my view, ridiculous swinging theory. I think it has something to do with “the medical world”. But then, I could be totally wrong.

    Kind regards,

    Maren

"I don’t think it has to do with paedophilia or the, in my view, ridiculous swinging theory"

I notice the interview is reproduced in the 'Irish' Sunday Mirror. Also that the word 'paedophile' is inserted into the quote to become the title of the piece. (I commented elsewhere on the possible significance of the Police 'wanting' a murder or not - I think 'H' may have removed it though).

Paedophilia is simply a necessary motive for a supposed crime (child abduction). And if that crime was not committed?

I too have considered the 'medical world', as you put it. There are certain issues which might, at the time, have exposed Astra Zeneca(employers of brother John) to a hostile take-over by a US pharmaceutical concern, when HMG was rather keen on its remaining a UK company.

Ironically, we may point to a variety of possible explanations for abduction's being a 'cover', but neither plausible motive nor evidence for the latter crime ever having been committed. And yet Operation Grange (and others) remain convinced?

It's a strange world we live in - and getting stranger by the day.

    Kind regards

    Martin R.

    What a memory you have!

Without exception, DCI redwood's public appearances have been a vehicle for the 'agreed position'. What annoys me about this particular 'bin man' episode (as it did at the time), is his bleating on about suspected burglaries/sexual assaults, which, if I am not mistaken, were unknown (i.e. unreported) to the Portuguese even.

Be that as it may, the remit of Operation Grange was to review/investigate the disappearance of Madeleine McCann - a task-specific undertaking. It was not to branch out into the pursuit of those guilty of unrelated crimes, ostensibly committed on the Portuguese Algarve over a six year period.

To suppose, indeed to attempt to convince the public, that quasi-spontaneous 'hit and run' assaults (on 7 to 10 year olds) might in some way be connected with the apparent abduction of a girl aged just 4 is either disingenuous or a display of unforgivable ineptitude on the part of a DCI.

Anyone who believes in this nonsense should move to the front of the queue for my forthcoming auction of London Bridge!

    http://www.mccannfiles.com/id76.html

...the agency almost came to grief early on, when police raided its offices, and Marco, his mother, father and brother were arrested and briefly jailed in 1995....Their big break came nearly 10 years later, when M-3 was credited with tracking down one of Spain’s most-infamous spies, Francisco Paesa, a notorious arms dealer...Paesa fled Spain after being charged with money-laundering.

No hint of a connection here, but purely as a matter of interest (should anyone be looking for material for a novel...here's yer man!):

If nothing else Paesa epitomises the ambiguity of his trade, described variously as a "government fixer" or in the next breath "interpols most wanted".

The comment you refer to is still there. The deleted ones, I think, are those with reference to the relocation (just guessing, but I can imagine, given the current climate).

As you say, “So how might 'Police', who 'did not want a murder', have made it 'un-happen', given the choice? And which 'Police' might have been best placed to exercise that option?”

Kate’s "Police don't want a murder in Portugal and all the publicity about them not having paedophile laws here, so they're blaming us”, sounds to me like a mother trying to convince people that her daughter is murdered by a paedophile, and therefore like a mother who knows her daughter is dead. Is it a last-ditch attempt to ‘prove’ their innocence or is it a sort of warning as to another murder?

Kate on Portuguese laws; a safe home in politics? It also reminded me of:

    http://www.west-info.eu/portugal-to-debate-law-on-outing-paedophiles/

To date, only two countries have already gone down this road: Britain and the US...

I echo Agnos “The hypothesis of a cover up having been instituted as collateral (as it were) to an entirely different affair speaks volumes to me.”

    Kind regards,

Correct on both counts in my estimation. For me KM's second phrase does not sit comfortably with the initial clause. It reads like a 'forced marriage' between two ideas wedded more from necessity than natural association.

Although the main focus of the Safety Board’s investigation was the crash’s cause, the agency will also address several other important questions surrounding the crash.

Among these will be why MH17’s flight path took it over the Ukraine conflict zone. Ukraine kept its airspace open to passenger flights at an altitude deemed high enough to be safe, and some airlines were still using it, but many routed traffic around the area.
