  9. Morning Chuck, thanks for the linkies.

A quick look round Twitter and then I must do (other) stuff.

The Assange link is well worth a tweet, thanks.

  11. As you say Chuck, yawn.

Or as we say in the vernacular: I've heard some fucking blags in my time.

  12. Closeness

Mr Coulson's counsel Timothy Langdale QC said: "In particular, it has been suggested as a result of the closeness of your relationship you would share sensitive or exclusive stories."

Well, they weren’t that close of course. However, Rebekah Brooks wrote:

The fact is you are my very best friend, I tell you everything, I confide in you, I seek your advice, I love you, care about you, worry about you, we laugh and cry together.

  15. LOL Pleb & David Hodge.

Maren, I'm not asking you to go looking for it, I've tried already, and it's a thankless task.

But do you recall ever seeing Summers in Luz in the early days?

Not sure if he wasn't sat outside a cafe or the like?

  16. I vaguely remember something about a writer in Luz or its surroundings in the early days, and also the outside a cafe or the like thing, but I’m not sure about the name and if the name was mentioned. Searched without results, which says nothing of course or perhaps it does.

I also vaguely remember something about investigative journalism and Irish/American.

Madeleine's parents are also set to make an appeal on Irish television asking tourists to forward their holiday snapshots to British investigators in a bid to find their daughter.

Kate and Gerry McCann were planning to appear on RTE television to urge anyone with photos from holidays in Portugal in early May to come forward to help in their search for Madeleine, who disappeared from the Algarve holiday apartment she was sharing with her parents and two younger siblings around six weeks ago.

'They wanted to appeal to any Irish person who may have been in the Praia Da Luz area around May 3 and ask them specifically to look at their digital photographs, to look at the backgrounds and look at the photos,' a spokeswoman for RTE said.

Irish tourists who visited the area in question should upload their photos to Britain's Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre website - www.ceopupload.com.

Speaking on the RTE Crimecall programme to be screened on Tuesday, the McCanns said they were overwhelmed with the support received from the Irish.

'There has been so much support from Ireland. We're overwhelmed. We'd reckon half the letters we have are from the Irish,' Mrs McCann said.

  17. I also remember, that (crime)writer was asked about his interest in writing about the McCann case (I do remember that because like anyone else I was hoping for a breakthrough). The writer answered something along the lines of “case still under police investigation” and “being busy with research for another book" (The Eleventh Day?)

I’m starting to sound like Jane Tanner, lol. Well, at least I never thought she lied as for seeing a man carrying a child, but not much more.

  18. Yes Chuck, that's the way I seem to remember it. But mores the point, he didn't come across as pro by any means.

Joana @xclamition is the one to ask, but I get the feeling she is otherwise away.

  19. In my view he came across as not willing to be involved at that point, a sort of rejection. I do remember I was wondering how to interpret that and thought that perhaps he would come back to the case later.

Joana or one of the other Portuguese might remember. Was it mentioned in a Portuguese newspaper?

  23. Good day H

    In addition to former comments.

Owen Gee is not the one I meant. I do remember him, though not clearly, but I couldn’t recall his name. He and his story were well-published in contrast to the person I meant.

I do remember a writer, doing research for another book at that time. He was only briefly mentioned, indirectly, no name as far as I recall, and was never visualised.

Not very helpful I must say, but just to clarify. M
