War Made Easy: Fifty Years Of Bringing Peace And Democracy

Although it's fairly lengthy, seventy minutes, and although it's my least favourite subject, war, I had no trouble watching this well produced documentary from start to finish.

The media's role in backing successive governments in their call for foreign conflicts has been no less criminal than the actions of the perpetrators of these wars, the easiest way to describe this film is to let the introduction speak.

War Made Easy exposes a 50-year pattern of government deception and media spin that has dragged the United States into one war after another from Vietnam to Iraq. Narrated by actor and activist Sean Penn, the film exhumes remarkable archival footage of official distortion and exaggeration from LBJ to George W. Bush, revealing in stunning detail how the American news media have uncritically disseminated the pro-war messages of successive presidential administrations.watch.
