Vick may face new indictment Monday

A grand jury in the district convenes on Monday. Prosecutors announced their intentions to file a superseding indictment in the case at last month's initial court hearing. A new indictment would include new charges, including racketeering, against Vick, the two people with knowledge of plea negotiations told the AJC. more




Vick judge says he's unbound by sentencing guidelines

RICHMOND, Va. — Whatever sentencing guidelines Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick might agree to if he makes a deal with federal prosecutors in a dogfighting case, the judge has said that while he'll consider the guidelines, he is not bound by them.
U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson presided Friday over guilty pleas entered by two defendants in the case. Both received preliminary sentencing guidelines of 12 to 18 months in prison in a case that carries a maximum of five years in prison and $250,000 fine. more USA Today
